The 1st Training of Trainer Seminar for Development and Application of Green Growth Policy Tools was held successfully in Bangkok, Thailand, from 22nd to 27th June, 2009. This event was co-organized by CSC/SCP Helpdesk and ESCAP and got strong support from UNEP-ROAP.
As the policy makers and experts from the target APEC economies are the main targets in the ESCAP Green Growth capacity development programme framework, the trainees of 1st GG seminar are composed of the government officers and experts from Cambodia and Kazakhstan, which are the target countries in the this pilot phase. The participants covered many ministries from the target countries such as Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Finance and some local government representatives, etc.
There are 5 track approaches in Green Growth. The 1st training covered 4 of them, which are GTBR, SCP, SI and Green Business. Each track took one day training.
As the trainees are experienced policy makers and experts in their countries and fields, the special interactive activities between the trainers and trainees are applied to share the practical experiences among the participants from different sectors, regions and countries and develop the best policy scenarios to solve the existing problems. All the participants realized that the multi-ministries collaboration in the policy making process is the key to develop the successful Green Growth policies.
